New Year's 2010 has come and gone. After dreaming of this trip for nearly 2 years, we can finally say - This is the year of our trip. Now we can start buying plane tickets, looking into renting our house, getting travel insurance, starting lesson plans. It is really happening.
Otis and Lilah seem happy but nervous. They are worried about missing their friends. Otis announced today that our recent decision to stop in Japan makes the trip worth doing. Dreams of remote control cars and tours of robotics factories have a siren's pull on our boy. He hadn't let on until now just how sad he is about leaving his buddies. Nonetheless, whenever we talk about the trip, both kids look wide-eyed and adventurous. I think like I do, they waver between excitement and nervousness. What will it be like to be away? To be together? To be in all new places?
